This is a book in which extraordinary transformations, adventures and miracles happen to ordinary people living in ordinary town. And almost like a real encyclopedia, it contains lots of knowledge about birds, nature and people.

One day the protagonist of the story, a sweet old lady called Charlene, imagines what it would be like if she and other residents of the town would have various birds instead of their noses. Unexpectedly the wish comes true; lots of trouble and complications ensue and people are forced to delve into the world of birds. Charlene's own nose is a starling but others have been given eagles, turkeys and nightingales. Each of the nose-birds gives some clues about the owner's personality and relationships with other people. The appendix, "Charlene's Book of Birds", features pictures of 36 bird species.
