Poems inspired by Juris Petraškevičs’ illustrations to the Sister and Brother fairytale relates to the annual course of transformations and events in nature and human life. They include a game of ‘going beddy-bye’ in which Dad can take part; a fantastic tale of a big fish that can devour the whole city of Riga; a wedding song for sausages and sauerkraut and, of course, the annually much needed poem for reciting in front of the Christmas Tree.

The Dauka Animation Studio turned the story of the sister and brother’s travel into a 7-minute animation short. The book features stills from the film.
