This is a book that show the Latvian society what really is taking place in our children’s minds. The Latvia of the XXI century through the eyes of children: 72 fairytales written by children and illustrations by 5 vivid and contemporary Latvian artists.

This is a children’s book, a chronicle of an era and an art project that expands the boundaries of children’s book illustration.

It includes fairytales written by 72 Latvian children as well as Fairytale-Free tales by Inese Zandere, a precise, biting and joyful narrative about adults and the world they have created: the world in which children live and think. The book’s five chapters are like an exhibition on five walls: the truth that has come from the mouths of children is reflected in the artwork by five young but well-known Latvian artists: Ieva Maurīte, Andris Vītoliņš, Gints Gabrāns, Otto Zitmanis and Katrīna Neiburga.

The book won the Special Prize of the Zelta ābele (Golden Apple-Tree) panel of experts.
